The combined costs of the companies in the Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles industry reached BGN 27,214,577,000 in 2016, up by 2.42% year-on-year.
The industry's total revenue makes up 33.5% to the country's Gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016, compared to 33.72% for 2015 and 30.86% in 2014.
A total of 234,189 people were employed in the Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles industry in 2016, compared to 218,362 in 2015 and 204,297 in 2014.
Most of the companies in the industry are based in Sofia, followed by Varna and Plovdiv.
